From the App Store window, click the Update button next to Word for Mac app. Perform any one of the following methods: Launch the Mac App Store from Dock or Finder.
Wait until a later date and try updating again when hopefully the bugs have been worked out :), and if you have time, post on here about your problem, so that they can work on a fix to it. When Microsoft Word for Mac is not up-to-date, you can try updating the application to fix any issue that results in freezing of your Mac. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and click on its name on the left side of the Menu bar (Excel for Microsoft Excel, Word for Microsoft Word, etc.). You may need to open it and force quit 1-2 times before it will function correctly again for some reason. To check the version of your Microsoft 365, open one of the apps in the pack, e.g. Open the installer package and it will re-install the previous version for you. It will go to the trash (in case you need to restore it). Before opening the update pkg, delete the application (Word, Excel, etc) from your Applications folder in the Finder. You can download the installer package for the individual app and not the whole Office 365 update by clicking the links on the right hand side (Word, Excel, etc). Find the previous version of the particular application you want to revert (Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel) on the Office Update History for 2016 page: Update. The latest version of Office for Mac for home users is Office Home & Student 2021 (£119.99/US149.99).
